01Operator and service
DetectiveX is operated by UnFog Ltd, London, United Kingdom (“we”). It turns real places into photo-verified investigations using maps, case cards, hints, rewards and an optional AI guide. Venues, exhibits, access and content can change; always check important details with the venue. Contact: contact@detectivex.app.
02Accounts and age
Progress, Coins, tools, purchases and reward claims belong to the signed-in account. Do not share credentials or manipulate the service. You must be at least 13; younger visitors may play only with a parent or guardian through the adult’s account.
03Playing safely and lawfully
Stay aware of traffic and surroundings, follow staff instructions, opening hours, photography rules and local law, and never enter restricted, private or unsafe areas. No case requires you to take a risk. Stop or skip a case if conditions are unsafe. You remain responsible for your real-world conduct and for obtaining any venue ticket.
04Digital purchases
Digital passes and entitlements are sold through Apple In-App Purchase or Google Play Billing at the local price and taxes shown before payment. Each pass applies only to the city shown at checkout. Buying does not start the timer: tapping Start requests immediate digital supply and activates seven consecutive days. If you upgrade a five-place pass to Full City, the separately priced upgrade starts immediately and replaces any remaining access window with a fresh seven consecutive days; saved places and verified progress remain. The pass does not renew unless clearly sold as a subscription. Venue admission is separate unless expressly included. Store refund/cancellation rules and all mandatory local consumer rights still apply; starting digital supply affects a cooling-off right only where applicable law permits. The server-verified purchase and activation records determine access.
05Cases, Coins and tools
A case is completed only after our server accepts the published challenge and verification event. The server ledger, not a device display or local file, determines completion, balances, tools and eligibility. When you spend Coins to reveal fog or use an owned tool, the server records and deducts the amount or inventory shown before confirmation; successful retries of the same event do not charge twice. Coins and virtual tools have no cash value, cannot be transferred or resold, and may be rebalanced prospectively. We may reverse rewards produced by duplicate, automated, fraudulent or manipulated events.
06DetectiveX city fridge magnet
The current offer makes an account eligible after server-verified completion of five different eligible published places tied to one activated city order. Unless the offer says otherwise, there is one claim per eligible order. The magnet is an associated promotional reward included without a separate charge, has no cash alternative and is not for resale. Before purchase, you must choose a currently supported destination country/region or explicitly continue digital-only and waive the physical magnet for that order. We request the full recipient and address only after eligibility and claim. Checkout artwork is a concept preview, not the final product; landmarks, colours, finish, size and packaging may change without removing the city-specific character. Delivery is usually estimated at 7–14 business days after claim approval, not payment, and is not guaranteed. Production, customs, carriers, weather or other events beyond our reasonable control may cause longer delays; we will use reasonable efforts and provide material status updates. If an accepted claim cannot be fulfilled, mandatory legal remedies remain available. Fraud, duplicate claims or falsified checks can disqualify a claim. The finished magnet is not a toy; keep it away from young children and do not swallow any magnetic part.
07Photos, personalisation, matching and AI
You keep ownership of your photos and grant us only the licence needed to verify, privately store and display the features you request. If optional magnet personalisation is offered, it applies only when you actively select a photo and approve the print preview. You confirm that you own the photo or have permission from everyone identifiable in it. Personalised goods may be excluded from change-of-mind cancellation where law permits, but rights for faulty or misdescribed goods remain. Respect other people’s privacy and venue rules. Matching and AI guide results are best-effort and can be wrong. A successful or failed match is not a statement with legal significance. You may report an error through Feedback.
08Acceptable use and intellectual property
Do not automate checks, spoof location, submit another person’s work, scrape, reverse-engineer, disrupt or resell the service. The app, cases, text, visual design and licensed reference media belong to us or our licensors and are for personal, non-commercial use. Your own photos remain yours.
09Availability, termination and liability
We may update, suspend or retire content and may suspend an account that breaches these terms, with notice where reasonably possible. You may delete your account in Settings. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for events outside reasonable control such as venue closures, unsafe conditions, carrier delay or third-party outages.
10Law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Consumers elsewhere retain the mandatory protections and courts of their home jurisdiction. We will notify you of material changes.
